Annual Report 2022-23 published

HM Inspectorate of Prosecution in Scotland has today (27 September 2023) published our Annual Report 2022-23.

The report highlights our inspection activity over the year, including our scrutiny of sexual history and character evidence in sexual offence trials, and diversion from prosecution. We also review what progress COPFS has made in implementing our previous recommendations relating to the prosecution of young people, Fatal Accident Inquiries and Victims’ Right to Review. We set out some of the challenges facing COPFS, including its work to secure forensic pathology services that best meet the needs of the justice system, bereaved families and the wider public.

The Annual Report 2022-23 is available to read here.
